Arklow Marine Services have recently delivered a state of the art new 27m Passenger Vessel named Spirit of Rathlin, this vessel has been designed to replace the existing Canna which operates between Ballycastle on the mainland & Rathlin Island off the Co. Antrim Coast. Used daily to transport vehicles, passengers & commercial cargo this vessel wIll be a huge addition to the local community there and also enhance the local tourism industry in the area. The new vessel which has been built from steel and capable of carrying 140 passengers, 6 cars, an articulated truck together with supplies for the Island.
Built to the highest shipbuilding criteria including Lloyds Classification Society Standards & MCA operating requirements, the vessel is powered by twin Scania main engines developing 900 BHP, giving a service speed of 8.5 knots and has an assigned EU Class C Passenger Certificate.
Comfortable passenger accommodation is provided in the passenger saloon on main deck level for 42 passengers. Further outdoor seating is provided on decks 1 & 2 giving great views of the surroundings.
The vessel is highly manoeuvrable having a bow thruster and twin high lift rudders.

The Spirit of Rathlin is currently getting built & is due for launch on August 16th, followed by a 15m trawler for the UK market

Owned by Morris O’Donoghue the vessel which offers tours of the Killarney Lakes is undergoing plate repairs and fitting of new stern tube bearings. Our personnel are carrying out all repairs on site in Ross Castle.

Two vessels from the Geological Survey of Ireland, M.S.V. “Keary and M.S.V. “Cosantoir Bradan” arrived at our Yard before Christmas and are both currently undergoing repairs, engine overhauls and some refit and modernisation works.

The latest project currently being built in the Yard is a 23 metre salmon farm tender for Scottish Seafoods Limited in Oban, Scotland. The vessel was started in November and it is anticipated that steelwork will be completed by the end of February, with fit out commencing in March.
