Arklow Marine Services has a 150 year history of boat building. Over the years, we have adapted to new practices and materials in construction to ensure that our boats are always fit for purpose. A blend of modern technology and our own commitment to the highest standards of build quality has made Arklow Marine Services a leading aluminium and steel boat builder in the British Isles.
To date we have designed and constructed vessels of all sizes and purposes at our quayside premises in Arklow, including aluminium catamarans, high speed response vessels, amphibious vessels, car and passenger ferries, trawlers, tugs, and workboats.
We will take care of the project from the design stages through to the final fit out and finish, and make any adjustments or adaptions according to your requirements. You can be sure of competitive pricing and delivery of the vessel on time.
At Arklow Marine Services, we design and build commercial fishing vessels and aquaculture vessels for both the salmon and mussel farming industries. These vessels can be built to the yard or owner’s own design and specification. Each project is a compromise between the owner, designer and the yard, and the vessel will invariably meet all the criteria to be successful when in operation.
Each new vessel build is purposely designed and built to meet the owner’s operation requirements, which may be specific to the type of proposed method of fishing for the vessel. Typically, these vessels are built with steel hulls and superstructures, and some with aluminium superstructures, depending on the application.
Our hallmark through a “Century & Half” in business has been the quality of the build, fit out of the vessels at competitive prices, and the ability of our yard to change and move on with new methods of building and processes. You can be sure that each vessel will be competitively priced, feature quality throughout and sound mechanical underpinnings, and be built to the highest standards, including accordance with standards laid down by regulatory bodies and/or classification requirements.
At Arklow Marine Services, we design and build vessels to service renewable offshore wind farms. We understand the specialist requirements of these high speed service vessels and accommodate them in our design ensuring the technician is afforded the most relaxing and comfortable trip when travelling out to these wind farms. Every facet of the vessel operation is examined in detail to ensure the vessel meets all the exacting requirements.
Wind farm vessels can vary in size from 10 to 30 metres. We have various designs that you can choose from and we can adapt these designs to incorporate any specific client requirements.
You can be sure that each vessel will be competitively priced, feature a quality fit out and top quality mechanical fit out, and be built to the highest standards including in accordance with regulatory bodies (DNV, Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s, M.C.A. approvals, etc.).
At Arklow Marine Services, we design and build passenger vessels for offshore, inshore and lake operation. We design and build them to be durable and capable of meeting the diverse and often challenging operational conditions required. To date we have 7 passenger vessels operating to the offshore islands that surround our coasts, which were purposely designed and built to meet each island’s different operating requirement.

At Arklow Marine Services, we design and build workboats, harbour tugs and line handling vessels to meet all harbour operating criteria, both small and large.
Each vessel is designed and built to the owner’s design requirements. With a low centre of gravity, harbour craft and workboats are very suitable for pushing, pulling and berthing large ocean going vessels.
You can be sure that each vessel will be competitively priced, feature a quality build out and quality fit out, and be built to the highest standards including accordance with standards laid down by regulatory bodies.
Typically an aluminium boat will be more expensive to build compared to one built from steel, but aluminium has a number of advantages over steel as a material for boat building.
We can advise on whether you should consider using this material for your boat but generally it is lighter which gives boats built from aluminium a speed advantage.
Aluminium can be used to build high speed response vessels, wind farm vessels, passenger vessels, charter vessels, oil combat vessels, and mussel and salmon farming vessels.
At Arklow Marine Services, we are skilled and experienced in working with aluminium and we have a number of aluminium boats in our portfolio.
We have a selection of videos of the boats we have completed and they can be downloaded here. As we prepare each video we will upload them on this page.
